When it comes to writing for anyone (but especially gen-z) I know two rules to be certain. 

Rule 1 Meet your readers where they’re at. 
Rule 2 Never pander.

Before they even start thinking about making a decision, students get hundreds of communications from universities across the nation. We take the time to understand our audience and writing things they actually want to read, which allows our newsletters to stand out in a metaphorical sea of college emails and build brand recognition as early as a student's sophomore year of college.
Our audience loves Buzzfeed-style listicles, so in our monthly newsletter, we sandwich helpful vlogs and videos in-between bite-size chunks of useful information and important deadlines.

Each newsletter starts like this.
As they scroll down, they will find dates and deadlines customized to where they are in the admissions process, along with important links. Most students check their emails on their phones, so our newsletters are optimized for mobile viewing through big red buttons with concise calls to action.

Of course, who can forget a specialized visit call-to-action.
